Clos de la Plante Martin 2009

Clos de la Plante Martin (Dry white wine)
Tasting advice

Drink now through 2012-2013.
Comment on the vintage and the 2009 harvest

Such an amazing vintage!
A cold - even sometimes harsh - winter, and a dry spring, with mild temperatures, favored an homogeneous flowering, announcing on June 15th the beginning of the harvests as of early October.
Then, the warm and dry summer gave all the ingredients the grapes needed to mature properly in the utmost sanitary conditions.
Here is a year, without frost, without rain, and, despite of the violent summer storms blowing... not far from our vineyard... without hail!
In September, few showers of rain invigorated the grapes maturation process... a blessed harvest!
Reflecting the beautiful weather conditions the vines benefited from, the 2009 vintage combines finesse with concentration.

On October 1st begins the harvests. Under a sunny autumn day, we start by picking the Clos de la Plante Martin golden Chenin Blanc grapes which, with 13,3 degrees of alcohol and 5,8 grammes of acidity, offer a pure dry white wine.
The grape-pickers wait a few days before picking the red grapes, there's no hurry as the weather is beautiful and dry!
Then, on October 12th, it's the Clos du Chêne Vert's turn as its South West exposure makes it the first of our argilo-calcareous plot to reach the optimal maturity.
Finally, after passing through the Clos de la Plante Martin one last time to pick the botrytised grapes, the harvest come to an end on October 20th with the Clos de la Dioterie old vines' picking.
