21-year-old Mélanie St-Louis, student of Human Sciences is a native of Montreal. Like the rest of her grape-picking pals, she is in France through the intermediary of the Association France-Quebec. "Before coming to Chinon, to Domaine Charles Joguet, I worked the harvest in Meursault. It's been a wonderful experience and I've earned enough money to continue my European travels".
22-year-old Catherine, a student of archaeology, harvested in Champagne before coming to Touraine. "Like all my compatriots, we're so happy to be here in France, but what a culture shock!!. The buildings are small and the streets are so narrow". "And there are no forests! " adds Félix Goguenard. The little group of Québécois burst into laughter! As for 18-year-old Jacynthe Girard, she sees France as a little country where each region is rich in culture. "Quebec is huge, but all regions look the same". Dany and Gisèle, two Chinon locals, observe the group of young Quebecois with a smile. "We've been coming here to work the harvest for ten years now. You know, there aren't that many domains that still harvest by hand".
