Millesime 2017

The frost episodes will not have spared us!
After a particularly frosty 2016 vintage (approx. 60% loss), 2017 was marked by another frost episode on April 27th... the vines were 3 weeks ahead of schedule once again, the harvest was cut by 40%.
The weather conditions then eased, with a dry and sunny spring, followed by a beautiful summer, the ideal weather to maintain good health and beautiful grapes.
The severe drought began to worry us at the beginning of September, the vine slowed down its maturity, it began to "stress" (hydric stress), the berries were small, the skins very firm.... and around the 10th of September, 30 to 50mm of rain came to water our plants, to hydrate them and allow them to refine their maturity... the vines relaxed and offered us a very nice vintage - in small quantities, certainly, but of very good quality.
The harvest took place in good conditions, the health of the berries was very good, no sorting was necessary.
The 2017 vintage is generous, rich in black fruit with beautiful silky textures, velvety tannins and good acidity giving it height and elegance - here is a greedy, structured and long ageing vintage for the Clos.
