        Clos de la Plante Martin

Located on the outskirts of the appellation, this exceptional terroir fully reveals the identity and complexity of Chenin Blanc.

        From vine to cellar

A magnificent hillside of over three hectares (planted between 1994 and 1999) on the left bank of the Vienne, on the edge of the Chinon AOC. This clay-limestone terroir, exceptional for Chenin, took precedence over the choice of appellation to best reveal the grape's identity. Average yields of 20 to 30 hl/ha, sometimes less. Harvested in successive sortings according to ripeness. Pneumatic pressing followed by vinification in 225-liter barrels (1/3 new, 2/3 of one wine or more). Very slow fermentation in cold cellars (5 to 13°C maximum), revealing the aromas and structure of pure Chenin. Regular stirring on fine lees. After 3 months' fermentation and 4 to 6 months' ageing, blending in stainless steel tanks before bottling. Prolonged maturation for a wine that's true to its terroir.

        2018 VINTAGE

In Vino Veritas, 2020: A favourite!"This is a magnificent hillside on the left bank of the Vienne, on the edge of the Chinon A.O.C., with a white clay-limestone soil that is very well suited to white Chenin. The material is chiselled, with a frank verticality on the attack. The nose reveals smoky notes due as much to the ripeness of the grapes as to the ageing on the lees in demi-muids. The latter has also brought fatness to the middle of the mouth. Good persistence on the freshness of citrus fruits and minerality".

        MILLENNIUM 2016

"Following a bountiful 2015, the 2016 Clos de la Plante Martin remains well-ripened, yet with a lively tension that balances it out."

        Le Figaro

        MILLESIME 2015

Le Figaro, 2019: "A brilliant, delicate white wine with pronounced minerality and citrus aromas. It has a long, mouth-watering finish and pairs perfectly with goat cheese or shellfish."

        Le Figaro

        MILLESIME 2013

"This vintage expresses itself elegantly through subtle mineral and petrol notes that complement the fruit. The palate is full-bodied and concentrated, enhanced by lovely bitter notes."
