16 / 20 - Michel Bettane - Bettane Desseauve - En Magnum 2019 : "Charles Joguet's emblematic clos, in Sazilly, with very old vines over 80 years old and a small portion regularly renewed. Classic, elegant nose of violets. Refined body, ageing perfectly adapted to the material, long, clean. Still has room to develop.

17 / 20 - Le Figaro, 2019 : "A wine of extreme refinement, coated and juicy. Dark berries accompany spices and mineral notes. A must-discover cuvée, ready to drink but which can be aged for several more years."

        Le Clos de la Dioterie

Historic and legendary vineyard in the Chinon appellation, Touraine, in the Loire Valley. Owned by Domaine Charles Joguet, one of the region's leading producers.

        From vine to cellar

Located just a stone's throw from the winery, Clos de la Dioterie is a two-hectare historical gem planted with 70-80 year-old vines. Its highly calcareous clay terroir and northeast exposure ensure perfect ripeness. These low-yielding vines (30 hl/ha) receive particularly attentive care.

As the last parcel to be harvested, we aim for the best possible ripeness. Careful selection of grapes in the vineyard, meticulous monitoring of vinification, maceration adapted to each vintage: everything about this cuvée encourages us to be cautious in order to obtain a result that lives up to its reputation. Aged for 14 to 18 months in French oak barrels, then refined for 10 months in vats. A rare wine of great complexity that will fully express itself after many years in the cellar.

        MILLENNIUM 2017

Coup de Coeur. Located right next to the winery, it overlooks the Varennes du Grand Clos: with vines aged between 70 and 80 years, this wine is an immense expression of its north-east-facing, strongly calcareous clay terroir, with all its chewiness, intense mineral freshness and depth. This is the last parcel to be harvested each year. A wine to wait a few years.

        MILLENNIUM 2016

16.5/20 - This legendary clos, with its clay-rich limestone soil on the left bank of the Vienne, was made famous by its legendary owner Charles Joguet in the late 50s. The Genet family has taken up the challenge with this colorful Chinon from 80-year-old vines. Intense concentration of fruit, structured by silky ageing, it promises long ageing.

        MILLENNIUM 2015

18/20 - Charles Joguet's emblematic clos, in Sazilly, with very old vines over 80 years old and a small portion regularly renewed. Hèlas, also barely two hectares. A marvel: if we had to define the ideal Chinon, this would be it. Floral refinement worthy of a pinot noir grand cru, with a supple grain of tannin perfectly integrated into the texture. Long, with a real bounce in the mouth, an exceptional wine.

        MILLESIME 2014

92/100 - Solid, with a broad, fleshy feel to the mix of smoldering bay leaf, tobacco and warm dark olive notes that meld steadily with a core of gently steeped red currant and damson plum fruit. Approachable now

        MILLESIME 2012

17/20 - A wine of extreme refinement, coated and juicy. Dark berries accompany spices and mineral notes. A must-discover cuvée, ready to drink but which can be aged for several more years.

        MILLENNIUM 2011

Charles Joguet's emblematic clos, in Sazilly, with very old vines over 80 years old and a small portion regularly renewed. Hèlas, also barely two hectares. Open but rooty nose (iris, bulb), characteristic of fine limestone soils. Evolves into black truffle, but the Cabernet bounces back on the palate with a return of red bell pepper, almost paprika, that will please connoisseurs.

        MILLENNIUM 2010

93/100 - With vineyards on the south bank of the Vienne river, facing Chinon, the Charles Joguet style is firm and tannic, with a need for aging. This wine is proof, big, structured, very firm and concentrated. Tannins dominate now, but the fruit is all there, a panoply of ripe blackberries, impressively rich and succulent. Age this wine for five years and more.
