Le Millésime

A vintage marked by contrasting and challenging weather conditions. Following a dry winter and a warm spring that encouraged generous and early budbreak, the return of a cool, humid oceanic climate led to high pressure from downy mildew and a slowdown in the growing cycle. A cool, rainy summer gave way to a sunnier end to the season, with rain in September followed by a heat wave that fostered excellent ripeness and slight physiological overripening. Yields were moderate due to extensive thinning and disease pressure, but the wines are concentrated, deep, and balanced, characterized by lovely freshness and remarkably ripe tannins.

A blend of gravelly plots on the Left Bank, this cuvée combines crisp fruit and vibrant minerality.

From vine to cellar

Fruit of a blend of different parcels located on the left bank of the Vienne with the same soil profile. The predominantly clay and moderately chalky slopes and plateaus produce wines with red fruit aromas and a lovely mineral structure, to be enjoyed within five years of the vintage. Average yield 45 hl/ha. Formerly Cuvée Jeunes Vignes, renamed to evoke the gravelly terroirs and their limestone parent rock, taking into account the ageing of the vines. Vinification method similar to Cuvée Terroir, but selected vines give greater density and complexity. Use of free-run wine only for maximum purity and finesse. Pressed wines blended with Cuvée Terroir, with qualitative exceptions. Able to age for several years.
